The easiest means to get to Bergen is by plane, flying into Bergen Flesland Airport directly from international or national airports.

Participants can also land first at other national airports including Oslo and Stavanger and make their own way to Bergen, enabling them to experience the best of the Norwegian fjords and mountains, should time allow. There are regular routes between cities in Norway for train, bus or boat. Alternatively, participants may choose to hire a car.

Direct flights to Bergen Flesland Airport are available from European cities such as Copenhagen, Stockholm, Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Edinburgh. Low-fare airlines also operate direct flights to Bergen from international airports (Paris, Berlin, Nice, Prague, Riga, London and more).

Bergen Flesland Airport is situated around 20 km South-West of the city.

GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CITY CENTRE
The easiest way to get to the city centre is by taking the airport bus or taxi.

SAS Flybussen (the airport bus) travels between the airport and the city centre every 15 minutes, with the amount of time depending on the time of day. The fare for a one way ticket is 85 NOK payable on the bus. You can pay with cash (Norwegian currency only) or credit card (Visa and Mastercard).

Taxies are readily available from the airport to Bergen city centre, and are the quickest option. Taxi drivers accept cash and various credit cards.

For participants arriving at other Norwegian airports and who wish to take in the sights on their way to Bergen, hiring a car is an attractive option. All airports offer a car hire service enabling delegates to leave their car at Bergen Flesland Airport following their journey.

Otherwise, participants can still enjoy the views travelling from other national airports/city centres to Bergen via public transport.  The most convenient means of travel are as follows:

From Oslo
The NSB (Norwegian Rail Network) operates a regular service four times daily between central Oslo to Bergen city centre. The journey takes 6.5-8 hours from central Oslo. The train passes through picturesque mountain and fjord areas (and covers half of the area of the famous Norway in a Nutshell tour). The train journey arrives in central Bergen just a short distance away from hotels where participants will be staying.

From Stavanger
Kystbussen Stavanger-Bergen operates an hourly service from city centre to city centre, taking around 5 hours. The tickets can be purchased onboard the bus or online.
 
Tide Flaggruten Stavanger – Bergen departs three to four times daily, sailing from city centre to city centre, and passing through Haugesund, in 4.5 hours. This trip will allow participants wonderful views of fjords and stretches of open sea, passing countless small islands and sailing through narrow sounds. 

Should you not have access to internet, you can dial 177 daily between 8 am and 11 pm for timetables for boats, ferries and buses: dial 177.

In the conference bag delegates will find a personal buss card for use on the buses between the city centre and the conference venue. NHH is less than a 10 minutes bus ride from the city centre. There are several bus stops in the city centre. They are indicated on the attached map. The buses to NHH are marked with number 9, 20, 24, 71, 80, 90, 270, or 280.

On a nice day, delegates may choose to walk the 40-45 minutes distance, enjoying the open air museum of “Old Bergen” along the route.
